Brennan wins again as Old Tappan beats Teaneck

Old Tappan high school baseball team defeated Teaneck with a final score of 16-1. Old Tappan's Anthony Onnembo led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. Teammate Rocco Pierorazio scored three runs. Pitcher David Brennan earned another win, while allowing no runs and striking out six over four innings. Old Tappan is now 4-0.

David Brennan Beats the Buzzer to Lift Old Tappan Past Ramsey, 56 to 54

David Brennan hit a basket at the buzzer to give Old Tappan a 56 to 54 win over Ramsey on Saturday in Big North play. (Link to Video) Brennan scored 22 points to lead Old Tappan and delivered the game winner as time expired. Isaac Shrager provided perimeter scoring with 18 points, including five three pointers. Carmine Porcelli and Joseph Martin each added eight points to support the scoring effort. Brian Slater, Luke Behrens, and Jake Totten each contributed minutes and defensive pressure as Old Tappan rotated through it's lineup and stayed competitive in a tight game. Ramsey kept pace behind Owen Farley, who scored 15 points and went 6 for 7 from the free throw line. Charlie Taylor added 13 points with three three pointers. Owen Crowley finished with nine points and four blocks. Owen Morycz led Ramsey with seven rebounds. The game stayed close through all four quarters. Neither team built a lead larger than one possession. Old Tappan relied on late execution and Brennan’s final shot to secure the win.

David Brennan voted High School Boys Basketball Player of WeekAfter four days of voting, Old Tappan junior David Brennan was selected as the HSS North Jersey Boys Basketball Player of the Week.Brennan led the Golden Knights (4-1) to two victories, including capturing the Jack Reilly holiday title at Fort Lee. He averaged 20.0 points, shooting 7 for 8 from the foul line and scoring 23 in the 46-41 title win over Randolph.

David Brennan earned MVP honors at the Jack Reilly Tournament after leading Old Tappan to three straight wins and a championship at Fort Lee. Old Tappan finished 3 and 0 in the tournament. Brennan set the tone in every round. He scored efficiently, controlled pace, and delivered in late-game moments. In the first round against Passaic, Brennan scored 14 points to lead all Old Tappan scorers in a 53 to 44 win. He scored in rhythm and helped build separation during a decisive second quarter. In the semifinal win over North Bergen, Brennan raised his level. He finished with 17 points in a 61 to 54 victory. He scored off the dribble, knocked down free throws, and answered each run as North Bergen pushed late. Brennan saved his best performance for the championship game against Randolph. He scored 23 of Old Tappan’s 46 points in a 46 to 41 win. He attacked mismatches, hit key shots, and went 7 for 8 at the free throw line to close the game. His scoring accounted for half of Old Tappan’s offense in the final. Across three games, Brennan led the team in scoring twice and was the focal point of every opposing defense. Old Tappan relied on his composure in close games and his ability to score at all three levels. Behind Brennan’s tournament run, Old Tappan captured the Jack Reilly Tournament title. Brennan’s consistency, leadership, and production made him the clear choice for tournament MVP.
