David Brennan delivered a career night and lifted Old Tappan to a 68 to 65 overtime win over Demarest on Tuesday evening.

Brennan scored a career high 35 points and carried the offense in every critical stretch. He finished with 11 two point field goals, two three pointers, and went seven of eight from the free throw line. He accounted for more than half of Old Tappan’s total scoring and came through with key baskets late in regulation and in overtime.

Old Tappan set the tone early. The Golden Knights led 9 to 4 after the first quarter and held a 20 to 13 advantage at halftime. Demarest responded in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter to close the gap.

The fourth quarter turned into a shootout. Demarest erupted with heavy scoring and Old Tappan missed key free throws to erase their lead and force overtime. In overtime, Old Tappan made the decisive plays. Strong defense and timely free throw shooting sealed the three point victory.

Joseph Martin added 12 points in the paint. Isaac Shrager scored 15 points, including three from beyond the arc. Jake Totten chipped in six points on two three pointers. Brian Slater appeared in the game and logged minutes with some strong defense. Luke Behrens and Shane Uglione also saw action as Old Tappan utilized its bench in the physical contest.

Demarest was led by Jake Schweid, who finished with 30 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Julian Gorenstein added 13 points, and Anthony Bernardez contributed 10 points and five assists.

Brennan’s career performance and composure in overtime proved to be the difference.

Old Tappan takes down another undefeated team.

Old Tappan defeated previously undefeated New Providence 45 to 40 on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The win handed New Providence its first loss of the season. Defense drove the result. Old Tappan held New Providence to one of its lowest point totals of the season and forced tough shots throughout the game. Old Tappan led 12 to 9 after the first quarter and took a 23 to 12 lead into halftime. New Providence rallied in the fourth quarter, but Old Tappan stayed composed and finished the game at the line and with stops on defense. Sienna Drullinsky led Old Tappan with 19 points, including 11 made free throws. Alexa Caunedo scored 12 points. Alivia Badurina added six points. Sadie Murphy finished with five points. Nina Caunedo hit a three pointer for three points. Mauimi Quiros, Christina D’Andrea, Katie Degennaro, and Joley Giordano all played and helped on the defensive end as Old Tappan protected the lead late. Old Tappan improved to 10 and 3. New Providence dropped to 15 and 1 after its first loss of the season.

David Brennan hit a basket at the buzzer to give Old Tappan a 56 to 54 win over Ramsey on Saturday in Big North play. (Link to Video) Brennan scored 22 points to lead Old Tappan and delivered the game winner as time expired. Isaac Shrager provided perimeter scoring with 18 points, including five three pointers. Carmine Porcelli and Joseph Martin each added eight points to support the scoring effort. Brian Slater, Luke Behrens, and Jake Totten each contributed minutes and defensive pressure as Old Tappan rotated through it's lineup and stayed competitive in a tight game. Ramsey kept pace behind Owen Farley, who scored 15 points and went 6 for 7 from the free throw line. Charlie Taylor added 13 points with three three pointers. Owen Crowley finished with nine points and four blocks. Owen Morycz led Ramsey with seven rebounds. The game stayed close through all four quarters. Neither team built a lead larger than one possession. Old Tappan relied on late execution and Brennan’s final shot to secure the win.

Big win at home for Old Tappan Girls Basketball

Old Tappan dominated from the opening tip and rolled past Tenafly 57 to 18 on Tuesday afternoon at home. Old Tappan jumped out to a 23 to 2 first quarter lead and controlled the pace for all four quarters to move to 6 and 1 on the season. Sienna Drullinsky led all scorers with 16 points and set the tone early with strong finishes inside and trips to the free throw line. Christina D’Andrea added 9 points with three made threes, while Alexa Caunedo scored 8 points and consistently pressured the defense. Sadie Murphy contributed 6 points and brought steady energy on both ends. Lea Savino and Alivia Badurina each scored 6 points, both knocking down multiple threes. Nina Caunedo and Olivia Richards chipped in 3 points apiece with timely perimeter shots. Joley Giordano coming off the bench, anchored the lineup with strong defensive focus, ball movement, and physical presence throughout her minutes. Giuliana Foschino, Mauimi Quiros, Madison Plescia, Farrah Ibrahim, Katie Degennaro, Sophia Kang, and Alivia Badurina all saw action and helped maintain intensity, spacing, and communication as Old Tappan rotated through the bench. Old Tappan outscored Tenafly in every quarter and showed depth, balance, and discipline on both ends of the floor.
