Biography:

Jayla Petterson, also known as Blu Jay Mia, is a student-athlete with a growing passion for softball, leadership, and personal development. A member of the Class of 2030 at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy, Jayla competes in softball while continuing to develop her skills as a catcher and corner infielder.

Known for her work ethic, competitive spirit, and positive energy, Jayla continues to grow both on and off the field. She also plays travel softball with Lightning Athletics, gaining additional experience and competing at a high level throughout the year.

Beyond softball, Jayla is building her own identity through Blu Jay Mia, a personal brand centered around her journey as a young athlete, student, teammate, and leader. Her goal is simple: keep improving, enjoy the process, and make the most of every opportunity that comes her way.

Freshman Jayla Mia Begins Varsity Journey with ELCA SoftballMcDONOUGH, Ga. — A new chapter began for Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy softball on August 3, and for freshman Jayla Mia, it also marked the beginning of her high school varsity journey.J.Mia, known across social media and the softball community as “Blu Jay Mia,” is part of ELCA’s freshman class and is listed as a catcher and third baseman on the Chargers’ varsity roster.ELCA opened its 2026 season on the road against neighboring Ola High School, with the Mustangs earning a 15–0 non-region victory. Ola improved to 1–0 with the win while ELCA began the year 0–1.For Jayla, however, the early part of the season represents something bigger than a single scoreboard.Making the jump to varsity softball as a freshman puts the Class of 2030 athlete in an environment where she will compete alongside upperclassmen while continuing to develop behind the plate and at third base.The matchup also provided one of the first looks at a young ELCA roster that includes several freshmen as the Chargers begin building toward the remainder of their 2026 schedule.Jayla's growing softball identity extends beyond her school uniform. Jayla Mia Steps Into Offseason Training for Her Freshman Year!

With her season for the Locust Grove Lady Braves complete, Jayla Mia is already putting in the work to prepare for the next level. Her focus has shifted to training for her upcoming freshman year, and she is fully committed to becoming a stronger, more confident player.Jayla is now working with Coach Stantrel Smith, a respected hitting instructor based in McDonough, Georgia. Coach Smith, known as The Hit Master, specializes in swing mechanics, timing, power development, and the mental side of hitting. His training approach is designed to help athletes reach their full potential at the plate.During her sessions, Jayla is refining her swing, improving her timing, and developing a mindset built on consistency and growth. Her goal is simple, to step onto the high school field ready to compete and contribute right away.“I’m excited for what’s ahead,” Jayla said. “I want to keep getting better, keep pushing myself, and get ready for freshman year so I can help my team win.”Drawing from the same discipline she shows in dance and Taekwondo, Jayla is attacking this offseason with focus and purpose.
