Biography:
DJ Haskins, class of 2015, standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall is a standout two-sport athlete at Bergenfield High School, excelling in both basketball and football. Whether dominating the paint on the hardwood or making big plays on the gridiron, Haskins brought intensity, athleticism, and leadership to every game. His ability to impact multiple sports showcased not only his physical talent but also his commitment, work ethic, and versatility as a student-athlete. DJ Haskins is widely recognized as one of Bergenfield High School’s most accomplished two-sport athletes and hopefully will soon-to-be inductee into the school’s Hall of Fame.
Basketball:
During the 2014–2015 season for Bergenfield High School, DJ wore jersey number 5 and played as a forward/center. He was a major contributor to the Bergenfield High School boys basketball team, during the 2014–2015 championship season. Haskins brought physicality and presence in the paint, using his size to anchor the defense and battle on the boards. Known for his toughness and high motor, he consistently made an impact around the rim, both as a rebounder and shot blocker.
Offensively, Haskins provided Bergenfield with a reliable post option, able to finish through contact and create second-chance opportunities. His hustle and leadership helped power the Bears to a New Jersey State Basketball Championship. DJ was a vocal leader on and off the court, embodying the work ethic and determination that defined his team's championship campaign.
The 2015 season culminated in Bergenfield's first state championship since 1945. The Bears secured the North I Group III sectional title with a 71–69 win over Teaneck and went on to clinch the Group III state title with an 80–72 overtime victory against Ewing High School. This triumph marked Bergenfield's inaugural appearance in the Tournament of Champions, solidifying the team's place in school history.
Football:
DJ Haskins had a standout football career at Bergenfield High School, playing as a wide receiver and defensive back. Standing at 6'4" and weighing 190 lbs, he was known for his athleticism and versatility on the field. During his senior year in 2014/2015, Haskins earned 2nd Team All-County honors as a wide receiver, highlighting his significant contributions to the team's offense . Haskins will continue his football journey at Stonehill College, as a freshman in fall 2015.
