James Keneally, #83, is a dynamic two-way player for New Providence High School’s varsity football team, excelling at both tight end and defensive end. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 240 pounds, James Keneally possesses an impressive physique well-suited for his roles as tight end and defensive end. 

In the 2024–2025 season, James has emerged as a pivotal force in the New Providence Pioneers' success. His physicality, athleticism, and football instincts have been well notice. On offense, he’s a dependable target with strong hands and a knack for finding open space, while also being a physical blocker in the run game. Defensively, James brings constant pressure off the edge, showing explosive bursts and a relentless motor that disrupts opposing backfields. His impact is felt on every snap, whether it’s making a clutch catch or delivering a key tackle. Beyond his on-field presence, James is known for his work ethic, team-first mentality, and leadership. New Providence moved to 2-0 with a commanding 37-14 win over Johnson, powered by a dominant rushing attack and a balanced defensive effort. Game Summary The Pioneers wasted no time setting the tone. A.J. Whitehead broke through for a 10-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, then added two more scores before halftime. Kevin Reilly’s 1-yard plunge pushed the lead to 21-0 before Johnson answered with a short run from Zaire Majerska. In the third quarter, Whitehead exploded for his fourth touchdown of the night, a 36-yarder, and kicker Daniel Porretti tacked on a 33-yard field goal. Whitehead capped his monster night with a 13-yard scoring run in the fourth. Johnson added a late touchdown, but New Providence had long since sealed control. Key Performances A.J. Whitehead: 16 carries, 158 yards, 4 TDs, plus 4 tackles on defense. Kevin Reilly: 46 rushing yards and 1 TD, also threw for 23 yards. New Providence Rolls Past Gov. Livingston, 42-7

New Providence starts the season with a dominant 42-7 road win over Gov. Livingston on Saturday morning. First Half The Pioneers set the tone early. A.J. Whitehead scored on a 2-yard run, then broke free for a 59-yard punt return touchdown to give New Providence a quick 14-0 lead. In the second quarter, Jack Fitzgerald added a 4-yard rushing score, pushing the margin to 21-0 at halftime. Second Half Quarterback Kevin Reilly connected with Daniel Porretti on a 64-yard strike to open the third quarter. Minutes later, Whitehead made the defensive play of the game, returning an interception 63 yards for another touchdown. Gov. Livingston’s only highlight came when Elijah Garcia sprinted 76 yards for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 35-7. Whitehead capped his big day with a second 2-yard rushing score in the fourth.
