Laurel Conway – Multi-Sport Athlete

Laurel Conway, of Sterling High School in Somerdale, New Jersey, made her mark as a standout athlete in both volleyball and track & field.

In volleyball, the 6-foot senior excelled as an outside hitter and middle blocker, leading her team with 129 kills and 132 digs in the 2023-2024 season. Over her high school career, she amassed 245 kills, 368 digs, 102 aces, 23 assists, and 27 blocks. Her versatility and leadership on the court made her a key player for Sterling’s success.

In track & field, Laurel specialized in the javelin throw, reaching a personal best of 131.3 feet in the 2024 outdoor season.  She also secured the javelin title at the 2023 NJSIAA Sectionals South Groups 2 and 3, showcasing her consistent dominance in the event.

Beyond her high school achievements, Laurel committed to continuing her athletic and academic career at the University of Delaware . Her dedication to excellence in multiple sports serves as an inspiration to young athletes striving to succeed at the highest levels.

Laurel Conway Wins at Counties & Sets a New School Record

At the 2024 Camden County Championships, held on May 11 at Haddon Township High School in New Jersey, Sterling High School's senior, Laurel Conway, delivered an outstanding performance in the girls' javelin throw. She secured first place with a remarkable throw of 131 feet and 3 inches. That throw ranks Conway 7th in Camden County's history. This achievement not only earned her the county title but also highlighted her as a leading athlete in the field events. Following Conway, Zoe Goldberg and Aniyah Smith, claimed the second and third spots with throws of 123 feet and 116, respectively. Conway's victory underscores her dedication and skill in track and field, setting a high standard for her peers while setting a new record at Sterling High School.
