Maddex V. Wins Gold at 2026 ATU National Championships

DULUTH, Ga. — Maddex captured gold in black belt sparring in the 120–128-pound division at the 2026 American Taekwondo United National Championships, representing Master Byun’s World Class Taekwondo.

Competing against other black belt athletes on the national stage, Maddex showed composure, speed and strong technique throughout the tournament, fighting his way to the top of his division and earning the title of 2026 ATU National Champion.

The victory was another strong showing for Master Byun’s program and a reflection of the preparation and discipline being built inside the dojang.

Maddex was coached at the event by David Rush, who made his ATU coaching debut under the tutelage of Master Byun.

Now the focus shifts to the next challenges on the schedule: the SWARM Games in Forest Park, Georgia, on August 29, followed by the Carolina Showdown in Anderson, South Carolina, on September 26.

For Maddex, the ATU gold medal marks another major step in his competitive Taekwondo journey as he continues preparing for what comes next.
